Spousal abuse

The ending of a relationship may be one of the most stressful times a person goes through in their lifetime.  When both parties decide it is time to end the relationship, all is okay.  However, when only one person wants the relationship over, the actions and reactions of the parties may precipitate angry feelings.

If this is the case, it is sometimes necessary to obtain a court order to protect against physical harm, bodily injury, assault or the infliction of fear of imminent harm.  Sometimes spousal abuse is emotional and not physical.  This occurs when one party makes harassing phone calls, threats or continually spies on the other.

During divorce proceedings, it is typical to file for a restraining order or a domestic violence protection order.  No one deserves to be abused and there is no excuse for domestic violence.  If this happens, call 911 immediately for assistance.  Don’t be afraid to file charges.
