Too many parents put their children right in the middle of their divorce proceedings. They show their anger and frustration for the other spouse in front of their children. I would like to offer some suggestions for keeping your divorce and your children separate from one another.
The most important thing to remember is to never speak negatively about your former spouse. There’s no purpose to this; your children love both parents; keep it that way. Avoid arguing in front of your children. Don’t make your children a messenger for passing information back and forth and don’t ask them to spy for you. Never prevent your child from seeing the other parent. Always arrive for visits on time and schedule fun activities. Finally, make sure your children know the separation or divorce is not their fault.
