DNA testing

Establishing paternity is a critical first step in collecting child support.

Once legal paternity is established, a child has the right to the father’s medical coverage, support and other benefits the father can provide.

Paternity is also important for the father’s rights and visitation.  You have a right to know if you are someone’s father and you can establish that right through genetic or DNA testing.  If paternity has already been established, you have the right to a court hearing to determine a visitation schedule with your child.

If you are in need of assistance to establish paternity or obtain visitation with your child, contact an experienced Orange County Family Law attorney who can assist and guide you through this process.
