Can my ex-spouse take our children to a foreign country?

Take a minute and ask yourself why you would want to deprive your children from a vacation to Europe.  Do you have a genuine concern for their welfare or is it because there are bad feelings between you and your ex-spouse?

If you are a single parent with young children, it may be difficult to send your children on a vacation out of the country with your ex-spouse.  Even though you may not like it, what can you do?  Make the best of it; let your children have a good time.  The following are some things you can do for your children:

·     Give them something to take along that brings them comfort, such as a blanket or stuffed toy

      or your picture

·     Give them a care package that includes travel activities to keep them busy

·     Be supportive and encouraging

Do not let your children see that you are angry at your ex-spouse; put your feelings aside.  Think of your children and what is best for them.  If you have any concerns about what your ex-spouse can or cannot do while on vacation with your children, consult with an experienced Orange County Family Lawyer who will answer all of your questions and put your mind at ease.
