Changing child custody

Even though you have your final judgment in your hands regarding child custody, it is still possible to change the custody.  Of course you will have to show that substantial changes have occurred to justify the change.

Courts look at the best interests of the child and their number one concern is preserving the stability in a child’s environment.  Reasons for change include:

·     The actions of the custodial parent is an issue

·     Threats to a child’s relationship with the non-custodial parent

·     Remarriage of one or both parents

·     Relocation of the custodial parent

·     Illness or disability of the custodial parent

·     Child abuse or neglect
