When a Family court judge believes a child’s best interests are in question, the judge will order a Child Custody Evaluation or 730 Evaluation.
A 730 evaluation is an in-depth study of one or both parents’ parenting practices plus their mental health. This can be requested by either parent when he or she is concerned about possible child or substance abuse, a parent moving out of the state or any other significant problem. Once this is completed, the evaluator will send the results and recommendations to the judge.
If you believe your child may be the victim of spousal abuse and want to request a 730 evaluation be done on your former spouse, contact an experienced Orange County Family Law attorney who will discuss the process with you and advise the best way to proceed.
