Marriage and annulment

An annulment erases the marriage as though it never took place.  It is a legal procedure that declares said marriage null and void.

In order to request an annulment, you must petition the court.  An annulment can take place only if fraud played a part in the marriage.  Was one of the parties already married?  Another reason for an annulment is if one of the parties was under the age of 18. Finally, a person cannot make a rational decision to be married if he or she is drunk or insane.

If you are contemplating an annulment, call an experienced Orange County Family Law attorney who will determine if you are entitled to an annulment and will help you with the necessary steps to get one.  The attorney will advise you of the California statute of limitations when an annulment is no longer feasible and you must file for divorce instead.
