Termination of parental rights

The court believes that a child has the right to both a mother and father’s love and presence.  They do not believe in terminating a parent’s rights, but will do so when the circumstances make it necessary.

Specific circumstances include, but are not limited to:

·     cases of abuse and neglect

·     the father does not want to see his child or pay regular child support

·     mental illness

·     alcohol and/or drugs

·     sexual abuse

·     murder or manslaughter charges

Termination of parental rights is a court order that permanently severs the legal parent-child relationship when the court finds a parent unfit.  If you are being accused of one of the above and your father’s rights to see your child are in jeopardy, contact an experienced Orange County Family Law attorney who will fight for your legal rights because as a dad, you have the right to take an active role in your child’s life. Remember, no one can take the place of a father in a child’s life.
