Nursing home sued for elder abuse

A 68-year old retired teacher has filed a lawsuit against a nursing home claiming that the staff drugged her by force – all in an attempt to control her retirement funds.

Her suit alleges that she was “forcibly medicated with psychotropic drugs to chemically restrain her”.  Several months ago State investigators discovered, after investigating, that she had been improperly medicated.

The woman is said to have had several health ailments and when she collapsed at home and after being hospitalized for almost two weeks, was transported to this nursing home for three months.  After the facility claimed she suffered from “cognitive impairment”, they tried to collect her Social Security payments.  They continued to give her a drug for dementia even after a doctor ordered it to be discontinued.

Patients who enter a nursing home are supposed to be able to trust the people taking care of them – not be targets for abuse.  If you or a loved one has been abused by personnel in a nursing home, contact an Orange County Family Law attorney who has been successful in defending elders in nursing home abuse cases.  No one should have to put up with abuse of any kind and no one deserves to be abused in any way.
