Grandparents have a right to visit

A grandparent has the right to petition the court for visitation with his or her grandchildren.  California law gives grandparents the right to visit their grandchildren even if the parents do not want them to.  If they have a good relationship with their grandchildren, they may be able to file a claim for visitation rights.

The court must first determine if visits are in the best interest of the children.  The court looks at the relationship between them plus their well-being and safety.

If you are a grandparent who has not seen his or her grandchild since their parents divorced, I urge you to contact an experienced Orange County Family Law attorney who will fight for your rights and those of your children.  Children need a relationship with their grandparents.
