Domestic violence

Divorce is a very emotional experience filled with all kinds of emotions ranging from confusion and uncertainty to anger and violence. It is unfortunate when a spouse gets so angry that he or she turns to violence.

Domestic violence is when an individual tries to control the other person.  There are several types of abuse, including:

·     Sexual

·     Physical

·     Emotional

·     Financial

·     Psychological

Although typically women are victims of abuse, it can also happen to men.  The abuser usually insists he or she will change, but that doesn’t often happen.  Domestic violence can affect how the divorce court rules during the divorce process.

If you are a victim of domestic abuse, leave, and make sure you are safe from the abuser.  Once that happens, contact an experienced Orange County Divorce attorney who will make sure justice has been served.
