Christmas without the grandchildren

Christmas is supposed to be a time to gather with your family and friends.  What do you do if your children and grandchildren cannot visit this year?

·     In order to avoid last-minute teary conversations, discuss holiday plans as early as possible.  If

you cannot be together, pick another day to celebrate – better late than never!

·     Divide the holiday time with all family members.  If one set of grandparents is having

Thanksgiving dinner, allow the other ones to have Christmas.  Tensions should be eased when

    you have a game plan.

·     Be realistic about your goals.  Realize that your adult married children have in-laws that want

to see them also.  Cut them some slack.

Finally, enjoy the holiday season with your family or your friends or whoever happens to be there.  Have a safe and Merry Christmas.
