Annulment

When a couple says, “I do”, it is supposed to be forever or “until death do us part”.  Unfortunately, this is not always the case.

In most states, divorce may be the most common legal process for ending a marriage, but it may not be the only option available.

Depending on your circumstances, it may be possible to have your marriage annulled.  An annulment of a marriage is not dissolution, but a declaration that no marriage exists between the couple.  It makes the marriage null and void.  Sometimes a couple seeks annulment because divorce is not sanctioned by their church.

Grounds for an annulment include:

·         Mental incompetence

·         Minority

·         Duress

·         Fraud

·         Polygamy
