Obtaining a Domestic Violence Restraining Order

There is help for victims of domestic violence.  A Domestic Violence Restraining Order is an order signed by a civil court judge demanding that an abuser leave you alone or he or she will face serious legal consequences.

It offers protection for both women and men.  The Domestic Violence Prevention Act was created to protect you and your children under the age of 18 from actual or threatened violence which includes but is not limited to:

·         Harassment

·         Stalking

·         Physical injuries

·         Sexual assault/molesting

·         Threatening phone calls

·         Etc.
